Music at St.
Philip's
Many years ago when Bev Ward, a former organist at St. Philip's, was asked by a new
priest how large the choir was he responded - 60. The new priest was understandably
perplexed. How could a small church have such a large choir?
St. Philip's has always been a singing congregation. Though we do form the
occasional choir for special services, congregational singing is the norm. Many
visitors and guest organists have commented on how well our congregation sings.
Here is a summary of some of the musical offerings at St. Philip's

- Performances by the Interlochen Arts Academy Chamber Singers and the Benzie Central High
School Madrigal Singers

St. Philip's New Organ
As part of the church renovation in 2000 a new pipe organ, built by Jim Lauck Pipe
Organ Company from Otsego, Michigan, was installed to replace the old Butler pipe organ.
It has been a wonderful addition, supporting the congregational singing while still
being a lovely solo instrument.
